Unapproved GHC200 million released for national cathedral project unfounded – Deputy information minister

The deputy minister of information, Fatimatu Abubakari has debunked claims that the Government of Ghana has unconstitutionally released GHC200 million for the construction of the national cathedral.

Member of Parliament for North Tongu, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa apparently disclosed that an amount of GH¢200million of unconstitutional releases has been done so far with regards to the construction of the national cathedral.

Fatimatu Abubakari reacting to the claims by the lawmaker completely rubbished the report that the Government has unconstitutionally released an amount of GHC200 for the project.

She also denied reports on social media indicating the Government paid Gospel Musician Sonnie Badu an amount in the region of $50,000 at the launch of the Catherdral project in the USA.

“Most of the information out there are not true. Media houses that have insight are expected to make the people understand some of these. For some people, they just believe anything they hear.

The government has not unconstitutionally released an amount of GHC200m for the National cathedral project. The reports out there about having paid $50,000 is also not true” She said on Kessben Maakye.
