I thought NDC would learn from our mistakes, but they are doing worse, How can appointees go to work as Kings driving in convoys? – Ing Kwabena Agyapong

Ing. Kwabena Agyei Agyapong, a flagbearer aspirant of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has expressed deep disappointment over what he describes as worsening governance under the current National Democratic Congress (NDC) administration.

Speaking in an interview on Kessben FM, Agyapong lamented the extravagant lifestyles of some government appointees, comparing their conduct to that of royalty rather than public servants.

“I thought the NDC would learn from our mistakes, but they are doing worse,” Agyapong said. “How can appointees go to work as if they are kings?”

“You have people riding in convoys that stretch for miles, with security outriders, sirens, and luxury SUVs all paid for by the taxpayer, while Ghanaians are suffering under high cost of living and unemployment,” Agyapong asserted.

He warned that such behavior not only erodes public trust in leadership but also threatens the moral foundation of governance in Ghana.

Agyapong, who has consistently positioned himself as a reform-minded figure within the NPP, admitted that the previous NPP administration had its own flaws.

He acknowledged that the party made mistakes, especially in its later years in government, including issues of overconfidence, poor communication, and a loss of touch with the grassroots.

As part of his campaign to lead the NPP into the 2028 elections, Agyapong is advocating for a new style of leadership, one rooted in humility, service, and accountability. He believes that Ghana needs a new generation of leaders who understand that political office is a call to serve, not an opportunity for personal enrichment or display of status.
