Sports historian Bright Yeboah Taylor has clarified the cup final records of Ghana’s two biggest football clubs, Asante Kotoko and Hearts of Oak, ahead of their highly anticipated 2026 Democracy Cup clash.
According to Taylor, a total of 55 trophies have been recorded between the two clubs, but six of those titles were not officially declared, leaving 49 declared trophies.
He explained that, based on the declared titles, Asante Kotoko have won 27 trophies, while Hearts of Oak have 22.
Taylor’s clarification comes ahead of the 2026 Democracy Cup encounter between the two historic rivals, as discussions over their respective achievements continue to generate interest among Ghanaian football fans.
The fixture is expected to renew one of the country’s fiercest football rivalries, with both clubs looking to add another memorable chapter to their long-standing history.
