This is not who I am: Don’t force yourself to change people, rather change yourself – Rev. Vincent Kankam

Rev. Vincent Kankam delivered a compelling message under the theme “This is Not Who I Am,” urging listeners to shift their focus from trying to change others to transforming themselves instead.

Speaking with his characteristic calm and wisdom, Rev. Kankam reflected on the struggles many people face when dealing with difficult relationships, misunderstandings, or unmet expectations.

Sofo Kankam, as affectionately called by listeners, emphasized that true personal growth begins inwardly and that attempting to mold others often leads to frustration, resentment, and disappointment. He challenged listeners to consider how much energy is spent trying to fix others when that same effort could be more fruitfully directed toward self-reflection and personal development.

Quoting from both scripture and psychological insights, Rev. Kankam explained that our perception of others is often colored by our own insecurities and wounds.

This week’s episode titled, “This is not who I am, served as a reflection point for listeners to identify patterns of behavior that don’t align with their authentic selves. Rev. Kankam encouraged his audience to stop blaming others for their reactions or emotional triggers and instead use those moments as mirrors to better understand themselves. “Ask yourself,” he said, “Is this really who I am? Or is this who I became to cope with something I haven’t healed from?”
