Mahama has discontinued important programmes by NPP that’s why unemployment is going high since he came to office – Afenyo Markin

The John Dramani Mahama administration has come under fire from Minority Leader Alexander Afenyo-Markin for reportedly abandoning important programs put in place during the Akufo-Addo administration, which has made the unemployment problem worse.
Speaking at the University of Ghana’s Asante Students Union’s grand durbar, homecoming, and handing-over ceremony, he emphasized the elimination of flagship initiatives like the One District One Factory (1D1F) program and associated tax exemptions, which had deterred investment and slowed the creation of jobs.
He further emphasized that, according to official sources, the unemployment rate in Ghana is close to 15%, meaning that more than one in four people woke up without a fulfilling work.
“When young people can’t find jobs, it is not just an economic problem; it becomes a threat to our national security in a region experiencing various forms of armed conflict,” he warned.
“The government has discarded it, abandoned it, and killed it. Factories that were planned under the previous administration now sit idle. Investment plans have stalled,” he added.
