Management of RMG Company Ltd has distanced itself from a recent publication by The Fourth Estate on its former operations at the Apinto concession, saying the company did not authorize or endorse the report.
In a press statement issued on Tuesday, July 22, 2026, RMG said the views, allegations and political assertions contained in the publication are “entirely those of the publisher” and should not be construed as the company’s position.
The company specifically rejected suggestions that the Government of Ghana or its officials supported or facilitated a takeover of its mining operations.
“RMG Company Ltd wishes to state, unequivocally, that it has not authorized, commissioned, endorsed or participated in the publication or dissemination of the said report,” the statement said.
“The Company further wishes to strongly dissociate itself from the litany of complaints, allegations and political assertions contained in the publication… RMG Company Ltd is not associated with such claims and does not wish to be drawn into political discourse or partisan controversy.”
Cordial Relationship With Government
RMG said it continues to maintain a professional working relationship with the Government of Ghana and its institutions, and believes the mining sector can only thrive through collaboration and adherence to regulations.
The company expressed appreciation to the Minister for Lands and Natural Resources and the leadership and technical staff of the Minerals Commission for their guidance in helping RMG restructure and lay the foundation for the restoration of its mining activities.
Commitment to Jobs and Compliance
RMG reaffirmed its commitment to investing in Ghana and said it is actively working toward the full restoration of operations at Apinto.
The company stated that its objective is to create sustainable employment opportunities for over 5,000 young Ghanaians, while operating in strict compliance with all applicable laws, environmental standards and regulatory requirements.
“RMG Company Ltd values the confidence reposed in it by the Government of Ghana, its regulators, traditional authorities, host communities, business partners and the general public,” the statement added.
The company further urged the public, stakeholders and the media to refrain from attributing any political position or commentary to RMG Company Ltd arising from the publication.
