An aspiring National Communications Director of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Gordon Asare-Bediako, has condemned calls for a “Repel Ken” protest at Alisa Hotel, describing whoever sponsored or fueled the disorder as “uncivilised.”
Reacting to the planned demonstration on the Maakye show in Accra, Asare-Bediako said while protest is a legitimate democratic right, it should not be used to target or provoke individuals within the party.
He argued that if the planned protest is intended to rise against Kennedy Agyapong, it would amount to nothing, insisting that the former presidential aspirant is like the Odum tree, difficult to uproot and remains an influential figure within the NPP who cannot simply be sidelined.
Asare-Bediako further claimed he suspects the controversy may have been stage-managed, alleging that some unseen forces could be working behind the scenes to create division within the party.
He noted that the NPP has witnessed relative peace since its January 31, 2026, presidential primary and questioned why unnecessary tensions are now resurfacing.
According to him, some individuals have consistently sought to create avoidable friction within the party over the years, but maintained that the NPP remains united and focused.
“There is peace in the NPP, and we are focused, so no one should create any problem for us,” he stressed.
He also advised persons close to Kennedy Agyapong to engage him and encourage calm as the party works to maintain unity ahead of future political activities.
