KMA clears Kejetia–Adum route of unauthorized traders to ease movement

The Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly (KMA) has undertaken a major decongestion exercise along the busy Kejetia–Adum stretch, removing unauthorized traders who had occupied sections of the road and pedestrian walkways.

The operation, carried out by KMA officials and city task force personnel, forms part of efforts to restore order, improve traffic flow, and ensure the free movement of both motorists and pedestrians within the central business district.

For months, the stretch had become heavily congested due to roadside trading activities, forcing pedestrians onto the roadway and contributing to traffic delays. The latest exercise saw structures, tables, and goods removed from unauthorized trading spots along the route.

KMA officials reiterated their commitment to maintaining a clean, safe, and accessible city, warning traders against returning to unauthorized locations. They urged affected traders to utilize designated market spaces provided by the Assembly.

Many commuters and motorists welcomed the exercise, expressing hope that sustained enforcement would help preserve the gains made and improve mobility within the city centre.

The Assembly has indicated that similar operations will continue in other parts of Kumasi as part of broader efforts to enhance urban management and public safety.
