Kurt Okraku’s Third Bid: ‘Football people will decide, if you are not part of it, your words don’t go anywhere – Alhaji Akambe
A member of the Hearts of Oak family, Alhaji Akambe, has weighed in on Kurt Okraku’s reported bid for a third term as President of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), insisting that the decision ultimately rests with football stakeholders who have voting rights.
Speaking on Kessben FM, Akambe dismissed opinions from individuals outside the electoral body, arguing that their views would have little bearing on the outcome of the election.
“If you are outside the football delegates who vote and elect president, your words don’t go anywhere. It’s the football people who decide,” he said.
His comments come amid growing discussions about Okraku’s future at the GFA and whether he will seek another mandate. Okraku was first elected GFA president in 2019 and re-elected in 2023.
Akambe’s position suggests that the focus should remain on the delegates who will ultimately cast their ballots rather than external commentary surrounding the election.
As speculation over the next GFA presidential election continues, attention is expected to turn increasingly toward the views of the delegates and the candidates who seek their support.
