Eric Dnokor’s 92nd minute finish handed Kotoko their first off-season trophy as they beat league champions Ashantigold 1-0 in Sunday’s SWAG Cup match at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium.
The two teams sold an excellent game in front of a considerably good crowd which included the Life Patron and Owner of Asante Kotoko, the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II.
Both sides were determined to dominate the game right from the blast of the referee’s whistle and they showed brilliance for a greater part of proceedings. The first half ended goalless.
As the game headed for penalties after regulation time, Eric Donkor found the back of the net, two minutes into the three-minute time added on. It was all joy for the Porcupines and their fabulous supporters most of who expressed satisfaction with the work the team has started ahead of the new season.
