Meet the talented 16-year-old JHS student who has built a torchlight with a power bank (Video)
Mohammed Seidu of Osabene Arabic and English school has built torchlight and a power bank in the eastern region.
The final year B.E.C.E candidate BUILT built the device using plywood and spoilt components of torchlight and other equipment at Kentenkren near Osabene in the Akuapem North district.
According to him, inventing such devices mostly makes him happy, and the torchlight which doubles as a power bank is the smallest thing he has ever built.
He said he made it a bed shape form so that it will be durable and also last longer and that’s why he didn’t build it in in a normal torch form.
The device contains both rechargeable batteries with a solar panel and a normal tigger head battery. He said the reason behind it is that an old woman asked him to build a torch for her in a village where they have no light, so he considered that if the woman is not having money to purchase tigger head battery, she can rely on the solar panel for 6 hours which she can even use to charge her phone as well.
Mohammed stressed that he has invented other devices such as remote control for cars and coal pots using tomato paste cans among others
He said most of the challenges he faces are lack of availability of components and tools that can help him build the devices he prefers but mostly he gets those components from spoilt and abandoned devices.
He also said that he would love to further his education by studying electronics and Electrical Engineering if the only government is willing to offer him scholarships here in Ghana or abroad he would be grateful and also willing to train other youngsters to close the gap on unemployment in the country.
