Prez Mahama calls off India visit

Information reaching Kessben Fm indicates that President John Dramani Mahama has cancelled his three-day India visit which was supposed to have begun on Sunday, 10th November due to “pressing” domestic developments.

The Ministry for External Affairs Spokesperson, Syed Akbaruddin told the Indian media that the government of Ghana had conveyed to India that the President will not be able to visit India and new dates for the visit will be worked out.

“We have received a communication from government of Ghana that due to pressing domestic developments, President of Ghana John Dramani Mahama will not be able to visit India,” he said.

Specifics of the pressing domestic developments were however not been stated.

President Mahama’s government has faced several corruption allegations in its short period of being in power with the recent one being the GRA/Subah scandal in which the Ghana Revenue Authority allegedly paid almost GH¢144 million to Subah Infosolutions LTD, for no work done.

On Friday, President Mahama sacked Deputy Communications Minister, Victoria Hammah over what is believed to be comments she is said to have made about internal government and party issues in a leaked tape.

On the said tape, the voice purported to hers, is heard telling the person on the other side, that she will not quit politics until she makes at least US$1m.

The tape went viral on the internet and social networking sites with newspapers quoting verbatim the comments contained thereof.
