Health service workers embark strike today, Gov’t has deliberately ignored our conditions – Nene Winfred Teye- Agoloe.
Chairman for the Health Service Workers’ says the government has failed to review the conditions of the health service, but rather has reviewed the conditions of service for nurses and doctors.
According to him, there is a collective agreement for every worker to ensure that each worker is comfortable at the workplace.
He stated that in the year 2016 an agreement was given to the government however the government had ignored it and the agreement expired in the year 2018.
According to him, the government had a meeting with the nurses and doctors where they reviewed their conditions and gave them positive feedback in the year 2019.
Nene Winfred Teye- Agoloe speaking with Omanhene Yaw Adu Boakye on ”Maakye” said during their last 2 meetings, ”government representatives from the ministry of labour and health informed them they were going to meet with the government, and they ( health service workers’) but did not hear from the government which they reckon has deliberately ignored their demands.
“We are therefore embarking on this strike until conditions are been attended to” He stressed. He also mentioned that they will be having a meeting with the Ministry of health and they are hoping that there will be a positive outcome.
