Asantehene has no authority over New Juaben – Daasebre Oti Boateng
The embattled paramount chief of the New Juaben traditional area says his paramountcy does not swear any oath of allegiance to any chief beyond the boundaries of New Juaben.
According to Daasebre Dr. Oti Boateng, the New Juaben state in the Eastern Region is autonomous, explaining that they only relate to the Asante Kingdom by blood.
Daasebre Dr. Oti Boateng has been a subject of destoolment by some aggrieved sub-chiefs who have cited the powers of the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II as their source of authority.
He was addressing a news conference to respond to rituals performed by the sub-chiefs to invoke the great oath (Ntamkese) of Otumfuo on him.
Daasebre Dr. Oti Boateng further warned that the traditional council will not entertain anyone planning to create a bad blood between him and the Asantehene, whom he regards as a relative.
He explained that he will ensure that the peaceful co-existence between Asanteman and New Juaben is sustained.
Meanwhile a statement read by the Asomkahene of the area, Nana Adjin Asamoah on behalf of the New Juaben traditional council condemned the actions of the sub-chiefs who embarked on what the council describes the conduct of the sub-chiefs as unlawful which also contradicts the Chieftaincy Act.
He said the response by the Eastern Regional House of Chiefs, condemning the actions of the dismissed sub-chiefs was in the right direction.
The traditional council has however, lodged a formal complaint with the police to cause the arrest of the chiefs.
