From Women’s Wing To Party Engine Room – Dzifa Tegah Eyes NDC Deputy General Secretary Position

The National Deputy Women’s Organiser of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC), Hon. Dzifa Tegah has declared her intention to contest for the position of National Deputy General Secretary of the party.

Addressing a press conference of party executives, including newly elected constituency executives, members of the party and the media, she disclosed what informed her decision to contest with a firm resolve and a deep sense of responsibility for the future of the NDC.

She said her decision to contest was inspired by the grassroots members who she described as the lifeblood of the party, noting that they have kept the branches and constituencies alive and carried the party’s umbrella through sun and storm, through victory and defeat.

Drawing on her experience as Deputy National Women’s Organiser and a former constituency communication officer, she said her service has taken her across branches, constituencies and regions, giving her first-hand experience in communication and constituency management.

She acknowledged the party’s deep-rooted strength but was frank that there are areas where the NDC must do better, particularly in administration, communication, mobilisation and in making every member feel a sense of belonging.

She explained that the office of the Deputy General Secretary is critical to the running of the party, as it builds structures, supports the General Secretary, links the national secretariat to every region, constituency and branch, and ensures that no voice is left behind.

According to her, elections are not won on the day votes are counted, but through careful planning, operational structures and effective management months and years before, adding that she brings new energy, experience in organising with limited resources, and communication with discernment.

She pledged to bring the secretariat closer to members and executives across the country, ensure concerns are addressed and records are properly maintained, champion inclusion for young women and men in leadership, and work to make the party stronger and battle-ready for victory in 2028 and beyond.
