NDC Nhyiaeso constituency chairman not dead
The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has debunked reports suggesting that the party’s Chairman for the Nhyiaeso Constituency in the Ashanti Region, Ernest Afayam, is dead. Some media reports said the NDC Chairman had been robbed and beaten to death by unknown assailants. But the Nhyiaeso Constituency Organizer, Angel Yirenkyi, explained to Citi News that the incident was in reference the NDC’s Trade Union Congress (TUC) Ward Chairman in the Nhyiaeso Constituency, 46 year-old Alfa Kwadwo Fiato, who was killed by the assailants. Mr. Fiato was returning from the Brong Ahafo Region to Kumasi on Sunday, March 6, when the incident occurred. According to reports, the deceased, who realized the road had been blocked got down to find out why the road had been blocked, only for him to be attacked by some heavily armed men, who were hiding in the surrounding bush. The armed men battered him a severely after robbing him of his, car, money and other belongings. He was later dumped him into a drain. A Good Samaritan upon spotting him, rushed him to the Kwadaso Hospital where he died on Monday. A statement signed by the NDC Ashanti Regional Communications Officer, Samed Akalilu, said that Mr. Afayam, their Chairman for the Nhyiaeso Constituency was “alive and kicking” contrary to the rumors that he is the one who had been killed. “I wish to state emphatically that Mr. Ernest Afayam, party Chairman of the above stated constituency in Ashanti is alive and kicking contrary to the negative rumour going viral on both social and selected traditional media.”
