Lawyer Sarfo Duku calls for extension of presidential term to five years
Lawyer Sarfo Duku, an aspiring National Democratic Congress (NDC) Ashanti Regional Secretary, has called for Ghana’s presidential term to be extended from four years to five years, arguing that the current tenure is too short for effective governance.
Speaking on Kessben TV, Sarfo Duku said a four-year term does not provide enough time for a government to fully implement its policies and development agenda.
According to him, the first year of every administration is largely spent on planning, setting up government structures, and preparing to execute campaign promises, leaving limited time to deliver tangible results.
“The presidential term should be extended to five years. The four years is quite short. The first year is preparation,” he stated.
