NPP Communications Director Defends Bamba’s Election as First Vice Chairman

Newly elected NPP Director of Communications, Dennis Miracles Aboagye, has defended the election of Kojo Bamba as the party’s First Vice Chairman following criticism from NDC Deputy General Secretary Mustapha Gbande.

Mr Gbande had criticised Bamba’s election, citing his past association with political vigilantism and arguing that it reflected what he described as a mindset associated with political violence.

Speaking on GhanAkoma on Akoma 87.9 FM, Mr Aboagye rejected the criticism and praised Bamba’s experience and intellectual capacity.

“Chairman Bamba’s experience and intellect [are] rare in the NDC,” he said.

Mr Aboagye also criticised Mr Gbande’s comments, arguing that his position was influenced by concerns over Bamba’s election.

“Mustapha Gbande cannot occupy any position in the NPP, he is just afraid and that has influenced his long talk,” he said.

The NPP Director of Communications further defended the composition of the party’s newly elected national leadership, saying the executives possess complementary qualities that would strengthen the party.

“NPP has elected leaders who will complement each other,” he added.

Mr Aboagye’s comments followed Mr Gbande’s description of Bamba’s election as “backward politics” and his reference to Bamba’s past association with the Delta Force in raising concerns about political violence.

Bamba was elected First Vice Chairman of the NPP at the party’s National Delegates Conference in Kumasi on October 3, securing 3,116 votes.
