Don’t have a Lawyer? Magistrates at district courts can still handle your case – Dr. Justice Owusu Dapaa reveals

Legal practitioner Dr. Justice Owusu Dapaa has underscored the accessibility of Ghana’s District Courts, stating that individuals can still have their cases heard even without legal representation.

Speaking on Kessben FM, Dr. Owusu Dapaa explained that magistrates in district courts are empowered to guide proceedings and handle cases involving litigants who do not have lawyers. According to him, this makes the District Court system more accessible, particularly for people who may not be able to afford legal services.

He noted that the arrangement helps ensure that access to justice is not denied simply because a person lacks legal representation, while encouraging the public to make use of the appropriate courts for matters within their jurisdiction.
