Death toll from Accra Floods rises to 12 with many still missing, 150 rescued, says GNFS

The death toll from the June 29 floods that swept through parts of Accra has risen to 12, according to the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS).
The Service said firefighters and emergency responders rescued 150 people during operations carried out in flood-affected communities as heavy rainfall triggered widespread flooding across the capital.
According to the GNFS, rescue teams were deployed to several affected areas to evacuate stranded residents, assist vulnerable persons, and respond to emergency calls throughout the incident.
The devastating floods caused significant damage to homes, businesses and vehicles, while leaving many families displaced. Authorities have urged residents in flood-prone areas to remain vigilant and follow safety advisories as more rainfall is expected in the coming days.
The GNFS has also encouraged the public to avoid driving or walking through floodwaters and to promptly report emergencies to the appropriate authorities as recovery and assessment efforts continue.
