ATU celebrates fashion with a touch of style and elegance

The Departmental of Fashion and Textile Technology of Accra Technical University (ATU) has held the 2026 Fashion Show and Exhibition under the theme “Wear Your Culture -Tradition Meets Modernity.

The event showcased an array of traditional wears blended with sleek cultural designs as fashion students used the occasion to display clothings of different shades of style and elegance while others modelled on the run way with African wears to the admiration to a cross section of students and audience.

Dr. Mrs. Emma Donkor, Vice Dean Faculty of Applied Arts in an interview with the media said 366 students from her outfit displayed variety of clothing’s as part of the drive to promote African cultural identity through fashion.

She said this year’s fashion show and exhibition was awesome as a result of the innovation and emerging fashion trends that students continue to design to befit modern day lifestyle in the clothing and fashion space.

Dr. Mrs. Donkor however urged the youth who finds themselves in the fashion industry to take the numerous opportunities saying fashion is a viable business and it includes also shoes, bags, beads, among others which contributes to the beauty of humanity.

Vice Dean of the Faculty of Applied Arts advised students to excel in the World of Works (WoWs), adding that the fashion is always associated with trends in clothing and life style hence students must not cultivate the habit of delays in completing works from clients.

She therefore urged the youth to take advantage of the fashion courses offered at ATU, and explained that it cuts across all human endeavors.

Prof. George Osei- Adjei Dean Faculty of Applied Arts said students were trained on practical hands -on adding that it brings out the potentials to enable them excel in all working endeavor.

He commended all stake holders as well as sponsors of the event for their unwavering support in advancing the fashion and exhibition show towards fashion growth and development in the country.

Mrs. Charlotte Feargod Tettegah, a fashion student expressed her heartfelt gratitude to ATU for empowering students to discover their destiny and potential in the world of fashion.
