TAGG Secretary Warns NDC Over Economic Policies, Calls for Action on TRADER System
Story: Maurice Otoo

The Secretary of the Trade Advocacy Group Ghana, ( TAGG) Nana Poku, has raised concerns about current economic trends, warning that they could have serious political consequences for the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) if not addressed.
In a studio discussion on Kessben TV’s PUNCH, he insisted, the New Patriotic Party (NPP) lost power in 2022 largely before the general elections in 2024, due to policies that brought hardship to the economy, a situation he cautioned should serve as a lesson to the current administration.
He noted that if the present trajectory continues until December 2026, it could “spell doom” for the NDC. Nana Poku questioned why some government officials appear reluctant to heed advice, stressing that certain key sectors, if mishandled, could significantly undermine any government.
He further observed that although the NDC started on a promising note, some of its intended policies toward traders may negatively impact economic confidence.
On the controversial Publican AI system, the TAGG Secretary revealed plans to seek legal clarity, stating that the group intends to proceed to court to identify those behind the system.
Nana Poku added that traders could have remained silent and simply passed on costs to consumers, but insisted that their advocacy is driven by a desire to support government while ensuring policies do not harm the broader economy.
