Mist Natural Mineral Water has signed on as a key partner for the Tampico Accra Inter City Marathon, with the brand citing health, performance, and the event’s global potential as major reasons for its support.
Speaking at the grand launch of the marathon at Zimansky Hotel, Roman Ridge on Tuesday, the Commercial Sales Manager for Mist said the race represents both a local pride and a future international showcase.
“What motivated us is that, one, we think that the Accra Inter City Marathon is a local product, but we see the future to be a global event. That is one of the main reasons why,” the manager said.
“Water Is Life” For Athletes
The second reason, he added, is simple: hydration.
“Another reason for us to partner this event is that water is life, and all athletes or all humans need water, and our water is very essential,” he explained. “We want to refresh the athletes with a natural mineral water, which will complement their tiredness and complement whatever they lose after the event.”
He noted that long-distance running drains a lot of energy, and Mist’s role will be to help athletes recover.
“Water is very essential, and every mineral in water will replenish the energy they lose,” he said. “It gives you strength to run. It gives you energy. We have a lot of vitamins in water, and the vitamins that the sports athletes lose out, the water replaces them. If the athletes are dehydrated, water is one thing that will give them energy back too.”
Supporting The Reset Agenda
Mist’s partnership comes as the National Sports Authority pushes its “reset” agenda for Ghana sports, with a focus on community engagement, corporate support, and elevating athletics.
The Tampico Accra Inter City Marathon is positioned as one of the first major road races under that agenda, with organizers targeting participation from across Accra and beyond.
With brands like Tampico, Capelli, and now Mist coming on board, organizers say the marathon is gaining momentum to become an annual fixture on Ghana’s sporting calendar.
