Mr. Bright Esilfie-Kumi has picked up nomination forms to contest the First Vice Chairman portfolio of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) ahead of the party’s National Officers Elections.
The forms were picked on his behalf by Nana Asempah at the NPP Headquarters.
The move officially signals Esilfie’s intention to contest for the key national executive position when the party goes to the polls on October 3, 2026.
Entry Into High-Stakes Race
Esilfie joins the growing list of party stalwarts seeking to occupy national leadership positions in the NPP’s upcoming National Delegates Conference.
The First Vice Chairman position is considered one of the most influential in the party’s hierarchy, deputizing for the National Chairman and playing a critical role in steering party affairs.
Supporters of Mr. Esilfie say his decision is borne out of a commitment to serve the party with experience, unity and dedication at a time when the party is reorganizing.
Filing Timeline
The National Officers Elections Committee (NOEC) on Thursday extended the period for filing of nomination forms. Aspirants now have from 23rd August to 29th August 2026 to submit their completed forms.
Vetting of aspirants will take place from 31st August to 3rd September, with publication of vetting results on 5th September 2026.
The NPP is expected to elect its new National Officers on 3rd October 2026 at its National Delegates Conference.
