Parliamentary disadvantage delayed suame interchange completion under NPP – Denis Kwakwa

Member of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Denis Kwakwa, has clarified the party’s role in the Suame Interchange project, stating that construction was initiated under the NPP but could not be completed within its tenure in office.
Speaking on Kessben FM, Kwakwa explained that the project began under the NPP government but faced delays due to timing and parliamentary dynamics that affected early implementation.
“Not that NPP did not do the Suame Interchange; we started but could not finish because we did not start early due to the parliamentary disadvantage we had in government,” he said.
His comments come amid ongoing political discussions over credit for major infrastructure projects across the country, with competing claims between the two main political parties.
The Suame Interchange remains one of the key transport infrastructure projects in Kumasi, aimed at easing congestion and improving traffic flow in the area.
