Gov’t to convert Kotoka Terminal 2 into multipurpose facility
The Minister for Transport, Joseph Bukari Nikpe, has announced plans to convert Terminal 2 of the Kotoka International Airport into a multipurpose terminal through the construction of a connecting concourse between Terminals 2 and 3.

The Minister for Transport, Joseph Bukari Nikpe, has announced plans to convert Terminal 2 of the Kotoka International Airport into a multipurpose terminal through the construction of a connecting concourse between Terminals 2 and 3.
Appearing before the Public Accounts Committee on Tuesday, January 13, the minister explained that Terminal 3 often becomes overcrowded during peak hours, causing significant discomfort to passengers, while Terminal 2 remains relatively underutilised at the same time.
He described the proposed upgrade as a high-priority government project scheduled for implementation in 2026.
According to the minister, once completed, Terminal 2 will serve both domestic and international passengers, a move he said will significantly improve comfort and ease of travel at the airport.
“We experience a lot of congestion in the evenings at Terminal 3. We have Terminal 2, which is not that busy when it gets to peak hours. The mind is to do a connecting concourse between Terminal 2 and Terminal 3 just to facilitate the movement of our international passengers, so that we can share Terminal 2 with Terminal 3 for our international passengers.
“It is a high government priority project which will bring some kind of comfort to our international passengers. Terminal 2 will now be a multipurpose terminal for domestic and international,” he said.
