President Mahama Leads High-Level Delegation to UNGA 80 in New York

President John Dramani Mahama has departed Accra for New York, leading a distinguished delegation to participate in the 80th Session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA 80), which officially commences on Tuesday, September 23, 2025.

The President is scheduled to deliver Ghana’s national statement to the General Assembly on Thursday, September 25, 2025, where he is expected to outline Ghana’s position on key global issues and development priorities.

In his capacity as the African Union’s champion for financial institutions, President Mahama will host two significant side events during the assembly. His packed itinerary includes crucial bilateral meetings with UN Secretary-General António Guterres, various heads of state, and prominent global leaders, including the President of the Rockefeller Foundation.

The President’s engagement extends beyond traditional diplomacy, as he is set to meet with the US-Africa Chamber of Commerce to strengthen economic ties between Ghana and the United States. In a historic moment, President Mahama will visit NASDAQ, where he is expected to ring the closing bell, symbolizing Ghana’s commitment to international financial markets and investment opportunities.

Accompanying the President, First Lady Mrs. Lordina Dramani Mahama will participate in her own series of high-profile events. She is scheduled to attend and address side events organized by the Organisation of African First Ladies for Development (OAFLAD) and will deliver the keynote address at a special World Vision International prayer service dedicated to the world’s children.

The President’s delegation comprises key government officials and advisors, including:

President Mahama and his delegation are expected to return to Ghana on September 30, 2025, following a week of intensive diplomatic engagements and bilateral meetings.
