We were unprepared for COVID-19, but when it came, It compelled us to adjust, change, and live therefore, you can change for good – Rev. Vincent Kankam

Rev. Vincent Kankam has stressed the need for compelling change and adjusting life referencing on the global experience of the COVID-19 pandemic. He made a striking comparison between the challenges of that crisis and the broader journey of life.

Speaking on Monday edition of the Food for Thought show on Kessben FM, he said “We were unprepared for COVID-19, but when it came, we had to adjust and live.” His words reminded audiences of the suddenness with which the pandemic disrupted everyday life, shuttering schools, churches, mosques, and businesses, altering relationships, and shaking the foundation of normalcy. But rather than dwell on the hardships, Rev. Kankam focused on the human response: adaptation.

According to him, the global response to the pandemic highlighted an important truth, the capacity to change under pressure. “We were compelled to change,” he said, emphasizing that though the change was not optional, it revealed our ability to endure, innovate, and survive.

He then pivoted to a broader life lesson: what happened during COVID-19 is a mirror of life itself. “The same applies to life,” he noted. “You can change.” His message was simple but deeply profound: change is often uncomfortable and unexpected, but it is also possible and necessary. Whether in the face of loss, failure, disappointment, or personal stagnation, Rev. Kankam urged his listeners not to see these as final blows but as turning points.

By drawing parallels between a historical global crisis and personal growth, Rev. Kankam encouraged people to take hope and responsibility. “You can change,” he stressed, not just when forced to, but even by choice. The lesson is not just survival, but transformation.
