Akyem natives in Georgia donate to Our Faith in God Orphanage

The Okyeman Association of Georgia, comprising Akyem natives residing in the United States, has donated assorted items worth thousands of Ghana cedis to Our Faith in God Foundation, an Akwatia-based orphanage in the Eastern Region.
The donation included essential items such as bags of rice, gallons of cooking oil, bags of sugar, cartons of tin tomatoes, sachets of washing powder, bottles of mineral water, assorted canned drinks and toiletries. An undisclosed cash amount accompanied the donation to support the orphanage’s daily operations.

Speaking to Daily Statesman on the sidelines of the donation, Robert Baafi, an Executive Committee member of the association, said the association aimed to annually support orphanages.
Mr Baafi was impressed by orphanage home’s cleanliness and organization, and commended CEO Janet Oppong’s dedication.
He advised the orphans to strive for excellence, emphasizing the importance of hard work and determination. He also encouraged them to put their best effort into all endeavours, whether academic or extracurricular.
The pledged the association’s readiness to continue with its annual support, fostering a lasting partnership with Our Faith in God Foundation.
The CEO, Janet Oppong, expressed gratitude to the association, promising to utilize the donations effectively.
She appealed for further support, especially for the orphanage’s under-construction facility.
She also appealed for further assistance from corporate entities, philanthropists and individuals to support orphanage’s operations.
