PSG makes world record bid to buy Barcelona’s Lamine Yamal

The agent of Barcelona midfielder Dani Olmo has confirmed the Spanish side did reject a world-record bid from Paris Saint-Germain for winger Lamine Yamal.

It was reported early in the summer that PSG, in their search for a replacement for Kylian Mbappe, had proposed a deal worth a whopping 250 euros to sign the winger just days before his 17th birthday.

The saga ended just as suddenly as it started, with Barcelona reportedly knocking the offer back so quick that many fans have even questioned whether PSG’s bid actually existed.

“One thing I know for sure is that Barcelona did reject a big offer for Lamine Yamal from PSG some months ago,” agent Andy Bara told Podcast Inkubator. “The deal was worth somewhere around €250m.”

Bara, who also represents the likes of Nacho Fernandez and Mikayil Faye, went on to discuss Olmo’s own move to Barcelona this summer.

Barcelona had to work hard to find the funds to sign Olmo, who was then forced to wait two weeks before the club could even afford to register him in their La Liga squad, but Bara insisted Olmo never had any doubts about making the switch.

“The media made a lot of noise but [president Joan] Laporta told me not to worry and that in 15 days it would be resolved as it actually happened,” Bara explained.

“We received many offers for Dani, including from three or four big clubs. I don’t want to name clubs, but Dani wanted Barca. We felt that Barca was perfect for Dani, I pushed hard for the transfer to Barca to happen and Dani also wanted to come home.”
