Phones and accessories dealers in Accra- Circle (Tip toe lane) say three days of continuous power cuts has severely disrupted their operations, leading to lost sales and rising costs of operations as they struggle to serve customers.
Speaking on Kessben Maakye show’s Street survey, Kofi Yesu, phones and accessories seller, said his shop has been without electricity for three days.
He explained that the outage has stopped customers from walking in to charge their phones, a service that usually draws traffic to his shop.
“Yesterday some customers came to buy phones but because there was no light, I couldn’t test if the phones were working, so they left,” he said.
He added that he eventually closed the shop early because no one came in to make purchases.
Another phone seller shared similar frustrations, stating that he has relied on a generator for the past three days but his diesel is running out.
“I can’t continue to use the generator because diesel is too expensive, and I don’t make enough money these days due to the power outage,” he said.
The shop owners are calling for urgent intervention to restore stable power, noting that prolonged outages will threaten the survival of small businesses that depend on electricity for daily operations.
