The Ashanti Regional Council of Elders of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) has congratulated Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia on his victory in the just-ended NPP presidential primaries, describing his win as a strong national endorsement of his leadership and vision.
In a statement issued from Appiah Menka’s Residence at Ahodwo in Kumasi, the Council said the outcome of the primaries reflects growing confidence in Dr. Bawumia’s competence and ability to lead both the party and the country.
The congratulatory message, signed by Victor Owusu, Secretary of the Ashanti Regional NPP Council of Elders, was issued on the instructions of the Council’s Chairperson, Mrs. Rosemond Appiah Menka.
According to the Elders, Dr. Bawumia’s victory represents more than a personal achievement, noting that it provides the party with a clear mandate to rebuild internal cohesion and restore public confidence ahead of the 2028 general elections.
“This result signals a clear mandate to consolidate our internal unity, sharpen our message and rebuild the public’s confidence in our party through disciplined organisation, policy clarity and visible humility,” the statement said.
The Council acknowledged that the primaries were fiercely contested and, at times, divisive, but stressed that the competitiveness of the process places an added responsibility on the flagbearer-elect to unite all factions of the party.
“It is precisely because the contest was competitive that your victory now carries an even greater responsibility to bring every faction, constituency and supporter into one coherent force,” the statement noted.
As the party’s traditional stronghold, the Ashanti Regional Council of Elders assured Dr. Bawumia of its full support as he transitions from winning the primaries to building a united and formidable party.
The Elders further urged the former aspirants and their supporters to be fully integrated into the party’s next phase, describing inclusion as the fastest path to unity and electoral success.
“The NPP wins when we convert internal competition into external performance—when we channel ambition into competence and organisation, not division,” the Council stated.
The message concluded with a call for reconciliation, discipline and collective effort, while invoking divine guidance for the flagbearer-elect as he leads the party forward.
