Baba Yara Stadium pitch to be ready for Kotoko-Hearts Democracy Cup Game – NSA Director-General, Yaw Ampofo Ankrah

The National Sports Authority (NSA) has assured football fans that the Baba Yara Stadium pitch will be ready ahead of the much-anticipated Democracy Cup clash between Asante Kotoko and Hearts of Oak on August 28, 2026.
NSA Director-General Yaw Ampofo Ankrah gave the assurance during an interview on Kessben FM, saying work on the playing surface is progressing as planned and will be completed before the historic fixture.
The match is expected to attract significant attention as Ghana’s two biggest football clubs renew their fierce rivalry in what promises to be a major sporting occasion.
The Baba Yara Stadium, located in Kumasi, is the home ground of Asante Kotoko and one of Ghana’s largest sporting venues.
Ampofo Ankrah’s assurance will come as welcome news to supporters of both clubs, particularly following concerns over the condition of the stadium’s pitch in recent years.
With the Democracy Cup scheduled for August 28, the NSA is expected to intensify work on the pitch to ensure the facility provides suitable playing conditions for the high-profile encounter.
The Kotoko-Hearts fixture is anticipated to draw thousands of supporters to the Baba Yara Stadium and will be one of the major highlights of Ghana’s football calendar this year.
