Akufo-Addo Must Apologize for NPP’s Defeat – Hon. Obeng Takyi
Hon. George Obeng Takyi, the outgoing Member of Parliament(MP) for the Manso Nkwanta constituency, has made an emphatic call for President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo to publicly accept responsibility for the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) defeat in the 2024 elections.
In what has been described as a significant loss, the NPP fell to the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), led by former President John Dramani Mahama.
Speaking during a local radio interview, Hon. Obeng Takyi attributed the party’s electoral failure to divisions stemming from the NPP primaries.
He accused President Akufo-Addo of playing a “scheming role” during the selection process, which, he claims, fractured party unity and alienated grassroots supporters.
According to the outgoing MP, the leadership’s actions created deep-seated discontent among members, ultimately reflecting in the poor electoral performance.
“President Akufo-Addo should come out publicly to accept responsibility for NPP’s defeat,” Obeng Takyi declared. “He must apologize to Ghanaians for the scheming role he played in the NPP primaries. The cracks created during that process cost us dearly.”
