Fashionable send-off for the late Kofi Ansah

Mourners dressed in high fashion instead of the traditional red, black or white attire, and a catwalk display will form part of the final send-off for the late Kofi Ansah.
The late Ghanaian fashion designer and promoter had asked that he be celebrated rather than mourned upon his death. And the family have honoured his wishes by asking funeral-goers to dress in high fashion that depicts “tradition and fashion” to the funeral ceremony on Friday, May 30.

Ansah, who died aged 62 from a heart-related illness, helped raise the profile of fashion couture in Ghana and beyond and was the principal at high fashion house, ArtDress.

“We want a ceremony that will reflect the man that he was, and also to celebrate his legacy. So, we are not wearing mourning clothes for the event, no black, no white, no red. Everybody can come in any attire that depict tradition and fashion,” said his elder brother, film maker Mr Kwaw Ansah.

The funeral ceremony will be held at the forecourt of State House from 8am, where Ansah’s body will lie in state for public viewing. A short inter-denominational service will follow, and thereafter, the burial, which will be attended only by close family members.
