Cultivate integrity at the workplace – Asantehene advices Ghanaian business leaders

The University of Professional Studies Accra (UPSA) has held its maiden edition of Ghana Business Leaders Conclave under the distinguish patronage of His Royal Majesty Otumfuo Osei Tutu 11, Asantehene.

Present at the event include the Inspection General of Police (IGP), Christian Yohunu, former Vice- Chancellor of UPSA, Prof. Joshua Alabi, Traditional leaders, Chief Executives Officers, Ambassadors, Industry players, Policy Makers, Entrepreneurs, Academia among others.

Speaking at the UPSA public lecture the Asantehene challenged Ghanaian business leaders in the country to exhibit honesty, integrity, respect, fairness and build trust in the board rooms, saying these are not foreign values but universal ethics that shapes business towards growth and development.

He urged business leaders to avoid cutting corners but rather institute skill sets with humility at the workplace and avoid arrogance which brings tension among members of management and explained that the board room is the mirror of every organization.

‘’Business leaders must believe in one another and provide the requisite working frame work to create the needed jobs which brings to bear the new era in business transformation ‘’he said, adding that leaders who do not exhibit integrity hardly record business growth.

On ethical conduct, the Asantehene said it is very significant in addressing shareholder disagreements, labour disputes which helps in shaping work place policies for national growth and development, adding that such values are needed in working environment, right from management to the board room.

For his part, the Vice – Chancellor of UPSA, Prof. John Kwaku Mawutor said the event will create a new national agenda for business leaders with their respective companies to strive for growth and development particularly Ghanaian indigenous companies.

He therefore expressed his heartfelt gratitude to Asantehene for honoring the invitation and assured that management of UPSA will also reciprocate to thank him as well as his entourage as the occasion was used to present a giant portrait of Otumfuo to the admiration of audience.
