Dedicated Service and stewardship is key to Wassa Amenfiman’s development Tetrete Okuamoah Sekyim II admonish the youth

This year’s Edie Afahye has been launched in Wassa Akropong with a call on the youth of Amenfiman to advance the development and growth of the Amenfi Traditional Area through dedicated service and stewardship. “For Wassa Amenfiman to develop the citizenry must exhibit the values of Service of self and dedicated stewardship”,

These values would propel and fast track development which will in turn bring the much needed comfort to Wassa Amenfiman.

The Omanhene and President of Wassa Amenfi Traditional Council, His Royal Majesty Tetrete Okuamoah Sekyim II, made the call on Thursday, April 28th, 2022 under the Theme “Serve One, Serve All, Building Blocks for Wassa Amenfi’s Growth” noted that the festival must not be limited to merry-making as practised elsewhere but should be a bigger platform to business opportunities for the people and also to plan towards an enhanced development of the area.

Tetrete Okuamoah II who doubles as the President of the Western Regional House of Chiefs also admonished the teeming youth in the area to use their partisan political positions and networking to achieve development for their respective communities rather than engaging in acts of indiscipline and acrimony which are stampede to development, he added. .

“I entreat you, specifically, the youth to work in unity and accord the needed respect to your leaders regardless of your political or religious affiliation,”he said.

Touching on tourism, the Wassa Amenfi Omanhene tasked the three Municipal District Chief Executives and the three Members of Parliament to liase with the economic Amenfiman Economic Committee to bring life to all the tourism sites and bring to bear the potential ones this observed will help in selling the Amenfiman brand to world and also generate more revenue when tourist troop in to these tourism centers.

Dr. Alex Asmah, Chief Executive Officer for Amenfiman Rural Bank, who doubled as the Chairman for the ocassion expressed his excitement about the theme for the festival explaining that it would put Amenfiman in a better shape to move foward in prosperity, unity and development.

He further stressed the need for the youth to develop themselves to become marketable in the competitive world, thus putting Wassa Amenfi on the global pedestal, calling on the youth to avoid all negative tendencies and conflicts, particularly during the festivities.

He challenged the youth of Wassa Amenfi to be daring and exhibit the spirit of can do spirit and service to community and nation, he explained his outfit’s readiness to help in the Omanhene’s Tourism on wheels agenda, he mentioned.

“We must make a deliberate and concious effort to empower and support the Human Resource personnel of Wassa Amenfi in all sectors of the economy, Governance, Academia, Sports, Engineering, Medicine et al, by pulling the strings together we will be able to achieve success rather than a one man affair, he added.

“Amenfiman is the habitat of lot of natural resources and cash crop which contributes largely to the foreign exchange of Ghana’s economy and and it’s about time the natives and inhabitants helped the Wassa Amenfiman to take its rightful place in terms of infrastructural growth,” he said.

The MMDCE’S and MP’s present, Honourables Korankye MCE for Amenfi East, Patrick Amponteng, DCE for Amenfi Central, Peter Kwakye Ackah, MP for Amenfi Central and Nicholas Amankwah, MP for Amenfi East took turns to address the gathering with Hon Nicholas Amankwah’s promise to collaborate with Ghana Tourism Authority to tap all the tourism opportunities in Amenfi emphasis for the needed Transformational growth.

In attendance also were divisional chiefs from within the catchment area of Amenfiman, also present were representatives from Samartex Limited Forestry Commission, Ghana Health Service, Departmental Heads and the clergy.
