E-Levy Brouhaha : Let’s Not Stop Gov’t From Passing The Bill – Joma Chief
The Paramount Chief of Joma within the Ga West Municipality of the Greater Accra Region, Nii Armah Okropong Shikpootse I, has expressed concern over the passing of the electronic bill (e-levy) and its matters arising. According to him, if the e-levy will be beneficial to the people of the country then we should allow the government to pass without any form of protest. He emphatically said that, Ghana is financially dependent despite all the resources (gold, oil, cocoa etc) we still depend on other country financially. Speaking with Eunice Afoley on kessben news, Nii Armah mentioned that, the ”government has every right to make laws and pass bill because government in power knows what is good for its citizens”. He added that, ;;if the government is allowed to receive taxes, the country will end up borrowing money which will always put the country on a stand still and the country needs to move forward”.
