The New Patriotic Party has scheduled their Tema West constituency parliamentary primaries for July 25, after months of disqualifications, appeals and protests over Carlos Ahenkorah’s candidature.
This follows a decision by the Appeals Committee to clear Mr Ahenkorah to contest the incumbent Naa Torshie Addo, who had earlier sought to get him disqualified. This was because, according to her, Mr Ahenkorah did not meet the necessary criteria to contest.

Parliamentary primaries in the constituency were subsequently put on hold following the disagreement over Ahenkorah’s candidature.
However, the NPP’s Greater Accra Regional Secretary, Nii Adjei clarified that the constituency could now go ahead and organise its primaries since it had “decisively dealt with the issue.”
“As far as the NPP is concerned, there is no longer an issue in the constituency,” Mr Adjei stressed.
