Women kidnapped by suspected Boko Haram militants

At least 20 women have been abducted by suspected Boko Haram militants close to where 200 schoolgirls were kidnapped in northern Nigeria.

The women were ordered to board trucks at gunpoint and driven away to an unknown location in Borno state. The incident took place on Thursday in a nomadic Garkin Fulani settlement.
Despite a state of emergency in place in the region, residents say the army is inactive or even absent, allowing the Boko Haram militants to continue their attacks.
The army has not commented on the incident.
Thousands of people have died and the security situation in northern Nigeria has deteriorated since Boko Haram launched its insurgency in 2009 in an attempt to create an Islamic state in Nigeria.
The insurgents are using a mixture of village raids and city attacks to destabilise the country.
