Tidal waves ravage communities in Keta

The Keta community in the Volta region has once again been hit with tidal waves, causing havoc to most homes.

The high current from the sea broke its bank into the Atiteti and Fuveme communities, displacing dozens of residents.

The basic school in Fuveme has also being affected, forcing the closure of the school.

An assemblyman for the Atiteti electoral area, Oswald Etse told Starr News the situation could worsen and spread to other areas in the coming days.

He said personal belongings as well as farm lands have been submerged and called for an immediate relocation of affected residents.

Tidal waves has been a regular occurrence in many coastal communities in the Keta and Ketu south municipalities in recent times due to the absence of sea defense walls.
