Ronaldo: My dream is to retire at Real Madrid… at 36
The 30-year-old, who picked up his fourth Golden Shoe this week, believes with the right care he can continue to score goals for Los Blancos for many more years
Cristiano Ronaldo has no plans to leave Real Madrid and believes he could even play for the club for another six years if he looks after himself.
The 30-year-old recently drew level with Raul as Madrid’s all-time leading scorer after his Champions League brace against Malmo took him to 323 goals, reaching that mark in 400 fewer games than the former Spain international.
There had been speculation that could mean he felt his work was done at the Bernabeu, with a return to Manchester United or a move to Paris Saint-Germain touted as possible destinations.
However, Ronaldo, whose contract runs until 2018, has insisted it remains his desire is to end his career in the Spanish capital.
“My dream is to retire at Real Madrid,” he told Marca. “If you take care of yourself, you can play until you are 40.
“I want to continue for five or six more years. I plan to continue [with the same] games and goals average.
“I feel good and useful at Madrid, I want to keep winning here.”
Ronaldo was this week awarded his fourth Golden Ball — which is handed to Europe’s most prolific marksmen.
No other player has won it as many times, but speaking at the presentation of the trophy he re-iterated his desire to win it several more times before hanging up his boots.
Former Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti has also recently said that he expects the Portuguese forward to retire at Los Blancos.
