Dr. Matthew Opoku-Prempeh, the former Member of Parliament for Manhyia South and former Minister for Education and Energy, distributed essential food items to three children’s and rehabilitation homes across Kumasi on Friday morning.
The donation package included staple foods such as rice, maize, canned fish, canned tomato paste, cooking oil, and sachet water.

Kumasi Children’s Home:
The donation exercise began at the Kumasi Children’s Home.
Dr. Opoku-Prempeh spent time interacting with the children to learn more about their daily living conditions and welfare needs.
While sharing treats with the children and staff, he asked the young residents to keep him in their prayers so he could continue his regular visits.
Edwenase Rehabilitation Centre:
At his second stop, the Edwenase Rehabilitation Centre, Dr. Opoku-Prempeh presented food supplies and inquired about the well-being of both the residents and their caregivers.
He encouraged the center’s administrators to maintain close supervision over the residents, particularly when they return from scheduled breaks.
Cheshire Rehabilitation Home:
The final stop was the Cheshire Rehabilitation Home, where residents gathered to welcome him.
Speaking with the facility’s leadership, Dr. Opoku-Prempeh commended their commitment to social care and urged them to persist in their efforts to successfully reintegrate recovered individuals back into society.
Gratitude:
Speaking on behalf of the recipient institutions, Mr. Obeng Manu, Administrative Manager at the Cheshire Rehabilitation Home, expressed gratitude for the ongoing support.
He noted that Dr. Opoku-Prempeh has maintained a consistent four-month donation cycle to the home for approximately seven years.
“We are deeply encouraged by Dr. Napo’s continuous generosity toward our home and others,” Mr. Manu told reporters. “We hope his actions inspire other public figures and philanthropists to step forward and assist in sustaining these essential care facilities.”
Faith and Service:
Addressing the media, Dr. Opoku-Prempeh shared that supporting vulnerable populations provides him with a strong sense of personal fulfillment and aligns with his Christian faith.
“As scripture instructs, I strive to share the blessings God has given me with those in need, offering them hope and reminding them that they are not forgotten,” Dr. Opoku-Prempeh stated.
He also encouraged members of the public to actively contribute to local charitable initiatives to help uplift vulnerable children and individuals across the community.
