NPP Extends Filing Period For National Officers Elections To 29th August
The National Officers Elections Committee (NOEC) of the New Patriotic Party has extended the period for filing of nomination forms for the 2026 National Officers Elections by two days.
In a press release signed by NOEC Chairman, Hon. Frederick Opare-Ansah, the Committee announced that aspirants can now submit their completed forms from Saturday, 23rd August to Saturday, 29th August 2026.
The original deadline was Thursday, 27th August 2026.
*Reason For Extension*
According to the Committee, the decision was taken due to the “significant level of interest” in the elections.
“The Committee considers it prudent to provide the additional time to facilitate an orderly filing process and to ensure that each aspirant is afforded adequate opportunity for the submission and verification of his or her nomination documents,” the statement said.
As of the close of day on Thursday, 20th August 2026 — Day Four of the nomination period — 44 aspirants had picked up nomination forms, with two days remaining for picking of forms.
Revised Timetable
The NOEC clarified that the extension does not affect other dates on the election timetable. The key milestones remain as follows:
– 17th – 22nd August 2026: Opening and closing of nominations
– 23rd – 29th August 2026: Filing of nomination forms (extended)
– 31st August – 3rd September 2026: Vetting of aspirants
– 5th September 2026: Publication of vetting results
– 6th – 7th September 2026: Appeals
– 14th September 2026: Notice of Poll
– 3rd October 2026: Election of National Officers
Vetting of aspirants is still scheduled to commence on Monday, 31st August 2026.
Commitment To Credible Process
The Committee reaffirmed its commitment to conducting the elections in a manner that is “fair, transparent, orderly and credible,” while providing all aspirants with equal opportunity to participate.
It also appealed for the cooperation of aspirants, supporters, party members and the media throughout the process.
The NPP is expected to elect new national officers at its National Delegates Conference on 3rd October 2026.
