The Ghana–Anhui Chamber of Commerce and Industry has donated 2,120 sports items to the National Sports Authority’s Resource Mobilisation and Partnership Committee (RMPC), giving a major boost to the nationwide Constituency Games and Ghana’s grassroots sports development agenda.
The donation, presented on Tuesday, 18 August 2026, at ESP Hotel in Labone, Accra, comprised 600 pairs of footwear—including Peace canvas sneakers and casual shoes—and 1,520 Peace T-shirts in adult unisex sizes ranging from XS to 3XL.
The intervention represents more than a donation of sporting essentials. It is a direct investment in the Constituency Games’ mission to take organised sport to every community, remove barriers to participation and create a transparent pathway for identifying and developing talent across Ghana’s constituencies.
The presentation ceremony brought together leading figures from Ghana’s sports fraternity, the Ghanaian and Chinese business communities, and international organisations.
Among the dignitaries were Ghana Olympic Committee President Richard Akpokavie; NSA Board Chairman Professor Fred Awaah; NSA Director-General Yaw Ampofo Ankrah; RMPC Chairman Samson Deen; Ghana–Anhui Chamber of Commerce and Industry Chairman Tang Wei; President of the Chinese Societies Association, Tang Hong; United Nations security representative Lihong Shen; and former Black Stars captain André Dede Ayew.
Their participation demonstrated growing national and international confidence in the Constituency Games as a practical platform for community mobilisation, youth empowerment, national unity and talent discovery.
“No child should be left behind” — Samson Deen
Speaking at the ceremony, RMPC Chairman Samson Deen expressed appreciation to the Ghana–Anhui Chamber for becoming an early partner in the national effort to rebuild Ghanaian sport from the grassroots.
“This is not merely a donation. It is an investment in Ghana’s young people and in the government’s Reset Ghana Sports Agenda,” Mr Deen said.
“No child should be denied the opportunity to participate in sport because of their location, economic circumstances or background. That is the central purpose of the Constituency Games: to take opportunity to every constituency and create a pathway through which talent can be identified, nurtured and developed.”
He added that Ghana possesses immense sporting potential that can be transformed into national and international success when it is supported by the right structures, partnerships and resources.
“With the right systems, credible partnerships and sustained investment, Ghanaian sport can once again take centre stage and project our country positively to the world,” he stated.
Sport as a force for peace and unity
Representing the Ghana–Anhui Chamber, Chairman Tang Wei said the donation formed part of the Chamber’s corporate social responsibility and its commitment to giving back to Ghanaian society.
“Sport is a powerful force that brings people together, promotes peace and strengthens communities,” he said. “We hope these items will serve their intended purpose and create meaningful opportunities for young people. We remain ready to support this important national initiative whenever we are called upon.”
Former Black Stars captain André Ayew commended the Chamber for supporting a programme focused on developing the next generation of Ghanaian sporting talent.
He described early investment in young athletes as essential to rebuilding the country’s sporting future and encouraged other corporate institutions, development partners and individuals to support the Constituency Games.
From every community to the national stage
The donation follows the inauguration of the NSA Resource Mobilisation and Partnership Committee and the launch of its partnership and donations initiative, which is mobilising private-sector, institutional and international support for the Constituency Games.
The Games are designed to provide young people in every constituency with structured opportunities to participate in sport, demonstrate their abilities and progress through an organised talent-development pathway.
Under the programme’s guiding vision—“Uniting Communities, Inspiring Talent and Building the Future”—partnership, transparency, community ownership, inclusion and excellence will remain central to its implementation.
The 2,120-item donation will strengthen the resources available to the programme and help ensure that promising young people are not excluded from participation because of where they live or the circumstances into which they were born.
For the Ghana–Anhui Chamber, the donation is a contribution to peace, opportunity and national development. For the Constituency Games, it is another important step towards taking Ghana’s sporting future to every community—and ensuring that no talent is left behind.
