Dagbon Mourns As King Of Dagbon Passes Away

Dagbon is in mourning following the passing of His Royal Majesty, the King of Dagbon, who departed this life last night.
A statement announcing his death said all sacred customs and traditional rites have been duly observed in accordance with the customs of the Dagbon Kingdom. His Majesty has been laid to rest at Katina.
A Reign Marked By Wisdom And Unity
In a tribute, the Palace described the late King as “a revered father, a wise leader, and a custodian of our rich heritage.”
“His reign, wisdom, humility, and unwavering dedication to the peace and unity of Dagbon will forever remain etched in our hearts,” the statement said.
Throughout his reign, the King was known for his role in promoting peace, preserving Dagbon culture, and providing guidance to chiefs, elders, and the people of the Kingdom.
His leadership was credited with helping to strengthen unity within Dagbon and fostering coexistence among the various communities.
Prayers For The Late King
The Palace called on all sons and daughters of Dagbon to join in prayers for the late monarch.
“As we grieve this irreplaceable loss, we pray that Almighty Allah forgives his shortcomings, showers him with His infinite mercy, expands his grave, fills it with light, and grants him the highest place in Jannatul Firdaus,” the statement said.
It added: “May Allah grant strength, patience, and comfort to the Royal Family, the Chiefs and Elders of Dagbon, and all sons and daughters of the Kingdom during this difficult time.”
The announcement ended with the Islamic declaration: “Inna Lillahi Wa Inna Ilayhi Raji’un. May Allah have mercy on the soul of our beloved King. Ameen.”
Dagbon In Mourning
Flags are expected to fly at half-mast across the Kingdom as traditional mourning rites continue in the coming days.
Chiefs, elders, government officials, and sympathizers from across Ghana and beyond are anticipated to troop to the Gbewaa Palace in Yendi to commiserate with the Royal Family.
The passing of the King marks the end of an era for Dagbon. The process for selecting a successor will be guided by the customs and traditions of the Kingdom at the appropriate time.
