Peak demand era has exposed NDC Govt, that’s why the light can’t stay on – Energy Committee member Hon. Aidoo reveals

Member of Parliament’s Energy Committee, Michael Aidoo, has blamed the current wave of power outages on what he describes as the government’s inability to manage peak electricity demand.
Speaking on Kessben FM with Wofa Kofi Appiah, the Oforikrom MP argued that the “peak demand era” has exposed weaknesses in the NDC government’s energy planning.
According to him, the rising demand for electricity has outpaced supply, leading to the persistent outages popularly known as “dumsor.” “That’s why the light can’t stay on,” he stated, emphasizing that the situation reflects deeper structural challenges within the power sector.
He called for urgent measures to boost generation capacity and improve distribution efficiency to meet the growing needs of households and businesses.
The remarks come amid increasing public frustration over unreliable power supply, particularly in key commercial hubs, where frequent outages continue to disrupt economic activities.
