NPP Delegates Give Current Administration Average Rating, JFK Leads General Secretary Race

A new poll conducted by Apex Intelligence and Innovation Insights has revealed that New Patriotic Party (NPP) delegates have given the current national administration an average rating, while Justin Kodua Frimpong (JFK) has emerged as the clear front-runner in the race for General Secretary.

The survey, which polled 871 NPP delegates across the 16 regions, found that 43.8% of respondents rated the performance of the current national executives as average, while 24.7% described it as good. On the other hand, 18.1% and 9.6% of delegates rated the administration’s performance as poor and very poor, respectively.

The poll’s findings suggest that the party base is cautious in its judgment, with many delegates yet to be fully convinced by the administration’s overall performance. This creates an opening for candidates who can present themselves as more effective organisers and stronger party managers.

In the General Secretary race, JFK has opened a clear lead, garnering 48.3% of the votes cast. He is followed by Hon. Eugene Boakye Antwi with 12.1%, Hon. Kwabena Kokofu with 11.1%, and Hon. Ursula Owusu-Ekuful with 9.9%. The remaining aspirants trail behind, leaving the race heavily tilted in JFK’s favour.

The survey also provides insight into what delegates want from the next General Secretary. The top qualities identified are strategic planning (24.1%), effective communication (22.2%), loyalty and sacrifice (21.1%), and administrative excellence (20.7%). Technocratic skills rank lower at 11.9%.

These findings suggest that delegates prioritise practical leadership ability over image alone, looking for a General Secretary who can think ahead, communicate clearly, remain loyal to the party’s cause, and manage its affairs effectively.

JFK’s strong performance across these attributes may explain his lead in the poll. At this stage, he is not only ahead in general support but also appears to benefit from being associated with the kind of leadership profile many delegates say they want.

The outcome of the General Secretary race will depend on campaigning, alliances, and delegate mobilisation in the coming weeks. However, for now, the numbers clearly place JFK in front.

The survey was conducted from March 11 to March 22, 2026, using a stratified random sample of 871 NPP delegates across the 16 regions, with a 95% confidence level and a margin of error of ±4.0%.
