President Mahama calls for peace in Middle East, urges Ramadan prayers for global stability

President John Dramani Mahama has called for peace in the Middle East and urged Muslims to use the holy month of Ramadan to pray for global stability and harmony.
Speaking during the Presidential Iftar with members of Ghana’s Muslim community at the Jubilee House today, President Mahama expressed deep concern about the rising tensions in the Middle East, warning that the ongoing conflicts could have serious consequences for the rest of the world.
“We’re all concerned about what is happening in the Middle East,” President Mahama said. “The conflict between the US and Israel and Iran is affecting not only the Middle East, it’s affecting the whole world.”
He noted that the escalating tensions in the region have far-reaching implications, stressing that instability in the Middle East often impacts global peace, security and economic stability.
President Mahama emphasized that Ramadan, a period marked by fasting, prayer and reflection, should inspire both leaders and citizens to work toward peaceful solutions to conflicts around the world.
“And so we pray that Allah would touch the hearts of everybody involved in this conflict and bring peace to the people in the area,” he stated.
The President also appealed to Muslims and people of all faiths to remember Ghana and other nations facing challenges in their prayers during the holy month.
“I humbly ask for your prayers during this Ramadan for our country, for our leaders and for other parts of the world that are afflicted by conflict, especially the Middle East,” he said.
President Mahama further underscored the importance of unity, tolerance and peaceful coexistence, noting that divisions and violence only worsen human suffering and instability.
The Presidential Iftar brought together Muslim leaders, government officials and members of the diplomatic community to break the Ramadan fast and reflect on the values of faith, charity and solidarity.
President Mahama concluded by calling for continued prayers and collective efforts toward peace, unity and stability both in Ghana and across the world.
