Yonsei University confers honorary PhD on President Mahama for leadership and Ghana–Korea partnership

President of the Republic of Ghana, H.E. John Dramani Mahama, has been conferred with an Honorary Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Public Administration by Yonsei University in South Korea, in recognition of his contributions to Ghana’s national transformation and economic development.
The honorary degree was formally conferred during a ceremony held on March 13, 2026, at which the university commended President Mahama for his leadership and sustained commitment to governance, development, and international cooperation.
Delivering the official citation, the university’s leadership indicated that the honour was bestowed in recognition of President Mahama’s distinguished contributions to Yonsei University and his pivotal role in advancing economic transformation in the Republic of Ghana.
“On behalf of President Yoon, in recognition of his distinguished contributions to Yonsei University and to the national transformation and economic development of the Republic of Ghana, we hereby confer upon John Dramani Mahama the Honorary Degree of Doctor of Philosophy in Public Administration, with all the honours, rights, and privileges thereunto appertaining,” the citation read.
The conferment was endorsed with the official seal of Yonsei University and duly signed by the President of the University, Yoon Dong Seok, as well as the Dean of the Graduate School, Hyun Chul Kim.
Yonsei University, widely regarded as one of South Korea’s most prestigious higher education institutions, awards honorary degrees to distinguished global leaders and individuals whose contributions have significantly advanced society, governance, and development.
